1. What is autologous Fecal Microbiota Transplant (aFMT)?
aFMT uses a child’s own healthy stool—collected before antibiotics—and reintroduces it after treatment to help restore the gut microbiome.

 

2. How safe is aFMT for infants?
The study is FDA-approved and registered on ClinicalTrials.gov . Stool samples used in aFMT are screened for pathogens. A pediatric gastroenterologist is present while the child drinks the sample and monitors the child for at least 30 minutes.
